The National Ambulance Dispatch Center (LMAZ) would like to welcome you on our website. 

This site provides information on the role of the LMAZ and its services in the areas of EMS and medical disaster preparedness in the Netherlands.

LMAZ has been in service since June 1st, 2007. LMAZ was established by the Dutch Ministry of Health and Welfare (VWS). During the process of establishing LMAZ, the Ministry worked closely together with the National EMS Board (AZN).

In the Netherlands, EMS is structured within 24 regions, each of which operates its own dispatch center. The dispatch center is responsible for the intake, planning and dispatch of ambulance care, transportation and consultation.

LMAZ supports the 24 regional dispatch centers by providing information and practical assistance in day to day ambulance related care. Transportation of patients through several regions is often facilitated by LMAZ. Night time dispatch of helicopter medical teams as well as Intensive Care transport (MICU) is also facilitated and registered by LMAZ. The aim of LMAZ interventions is to serve the regional dispatch centers, support them and help them work together to improve the quality of patient care.

In the area of medical disaster preparedness, LMAZ is in cooperation with the Dutch Ministry of the Interior (BZK) and its National Coordination Centers (NCC and LOCC). LMAZ covers the operational assistance to regions in situations of (possible) mass casualty care. LMAZ informs and seeks assistance for other regions in case of a major incident and supports the regional dispatch center by providing "extra hands" when dealing with such a situation.

LMAZ is hosted by the National Police Staff (KLPD) in Driebergen which is located in the center of the Netherlands. This dispatch center is situated in the same room as the Centers for National and Military Police Services. 

LMAZ dispatchers are highly qualified and experienced professionals from different regional dispatch centers.
